A message from chairman heather
As many know the history of Hooe was researched and recorded by John James Newport and published in the book “Records of Hooe”. Little of the late 19th and 20th century IS recorded, so We Felt that now was the time to make a start before it was too late. we hope to collect photographs, of people and events which have taken place in Hooe, and welcome for our archives Newspaper cuttings of events that have taken place in the village, along stories of Hooe and its inhabitants. If you have anything that you feel would be interesting about Hooe please share it with us, AS I am sure we are only beginning to scratch the surface!

OUR NEXT MEETING
Is at the beautiful St. Oswald's Church Hooe on Thursday16th October 2025.
David Clarke will tell us of The Ogre of Brede.
In the 16th century, it was said that a giant prowled the streets of Brede looking for children to eat for supper.
It may have been a cautionary tale but that is to discount the legends borne out of religious strife that surround the village, of smugglers, a matchless Madonna, a biblical misprint, body snatchers and that rather macabre tale of the Sussex Cannibal.
